1. Special City: Special cities are designated as independent administrative units with unique administrative authority. South Korea has six special cities: Seoul, Busan, Daegu, Incheon, Gwangju, and Daejeon.

It is designated as the administrative capital of the country and houses government agencies and central administrative institutions.

4. City: Cities are intermediate-sized administrative units between provinces and counties. There are numerous cities in South Korea, including Suwon City, Changwon City, and Ulsan City.

5. Province: Provinces are the largest administrative divisions in South Korea, governing various regions. They include administrative cities and counties. Examples of provinces are Gyeonggi Province, Gangwon Province, and Chungcheongbuk Province.

6. County: Counties govern smaller administrative areas such as towns and villages. They are subunits of cities or provinces. Examples include Gangneung County, Seongnam City, and Anyang City.
